When structural integrity and fire safety are paramount, COCUS Glass Fibre Reinforced Cement (GFRC) Meshmen are the professional's choice. Unlike plastic spacers that can create weak points or "shadows" on the surface of a slab, these cement-based spacers become an integral part of the concrete structure itself.
Engineered for Industrial Performance
The addition of glass fibre reinforcement gives these spacers incredible compressive strength and durability. They are designed to support the heaviest steel grids and withstand the rigours of busy construction sites without crushing or shifting. With a dual-height cover of 40/50mm they offer the flexibility needed to handle various slab requirements with a single high-spec component.
Superior Thermal & Structural Bonding
Because COCUS GFRC spacers are made from the same base material as the concrete you are pouring, they expand and contract at the same rate. This prevents internal stress and ensures there are no entry points for moisture or corrosion to reach your steel reinforcement over time.
Material: Glass Fibre Reinforced Cement (GFRC)
Concrete Cover: Dual 40mm and 50mm
Material strength of approximately 50N/mm2
Fire Rating: Non-combustible (Euroclass A1)
Compatibility: Fits mesh and rebar diameters from 6mm to 16mm
Quantity: Available in Packs of 25,50,100
Recommended Spacing
Maximum spacing 750mm
Minimum of two spacers per m2
For small diameter mesh fabric more spacers will be required to stop 'sagging'.
Colour: Natural Concrete Grey
1. Why use 40/50mm spacers instead of smaller sizes?
These sizes are required for thicker slabs (typically 150mm+) or where a higher level of protection is needed for the steel reinforcement against ground moisture and chemicals.
2. Are these better than plastic spacers for fire safety?
Yes. Plastic spacers can melt in extreme heat, potentially compromising the reinforcement. GFRC spacers are fire-resistant and maintain their structural integrity at much higher temperatures.
3. Will the spacers be visible on the finished floor?
No. Since they are made of cement, they bond with the wet concrete and dry to the same colour, making them invisible in the finished slab—perfect for power-floated or architectural finishes.
4. How many do I need per square metre?
For standard mesh reinforcement, we recommend 2 Meshmen per square metre.
5. Can these be used on soft ground?
While the base is wide to prevent sinking, they should always be used on a blinded surface (sand) or directly on top of a DPM for maximum stability.
